You are referred to Examinations Minute 0037/2007 of 15 August 2007, which informed you that the national Department of Education is currently testing a new computer program for the processing of examination results. In this program the candidate's identity document (ID) number is a compulsory field.

As from 2008, each National Senior Certificate candidate's ID number will be used both to register the candidate and also as that candidate's examination number.

The latest information on the CEMIS indicates that more than 28 000 of the current Grade 11 learners still have no ID numbers.

In view of this, principals are kindly requested to ensure that the ID numbers of all their current Grade 10 and 11 learners are captured on the CEMIS by 23 November 2007.
