1.6Friday, 4 January 2008 after 12:00:Results not collected are posted to the schools by the EMDCs.

2. As it is imperative that all parties adhere strictly to these arrangements, your co-operation in this regard will be essential.
3. To view their individual examination results on the WCED website at http://wced.wcape.gov.za, candidates will have to enter both their examination numbers and their identity numbers.
4. The Department must be informed about arrangements that schools will make to collect their results. Principals are, therefore, to complete the accompanying form and to send it to the EMDC director by 26 November 2007. This information will also be used to contact those principals invited to attend the Awards Ceremony.
5. The following information will be made available to the media:
  • Names and examination numbers of candidates who passed, per school per district. The following symbols are used:

    • E - Endorsement;
    • M - Endorsement with Merit;
    • D - Endorsement with Distinction;
    • S - Senior Certificate;
    • N - Senior Certificate with Merit;
    • P - Senior Certificate with Distinction.
    • The subjects in which candidates obtained distinctions (A symbols) will also be indicated.
  • The names of candidates who have excelled in the examinations by obtaining a Pass with Distinction (aggregate of 1680 or more) or a Pass with Merit (aggregate between 1260 and 1679)

  • The name of each school's top candidate

  • The names of the top three candidates (with a minimum of 80%) in each Higher Grade and Standard Grade subject

6. As it is of the utmost importance that candidates who do not pass the examination be offered support and counselling, candidates must be informed that such services are available. Counselling can be given at the school when candidates receive their results or, if applicable, at the relevant EMDC, where staff will be available. If a principal refers a candidate to an EMDC, the principal must give the candidate the telephone number and address of the EMDC and provide the EMDC with the candidate's details. As those candidates in most dire need of counselling often do not seek counselling, an appeal is made to principals to be conscious of the feelings of candidates whose expectations have not been realised.
