The WCED wishes to thank all schools for their participation in the Language and Mathematics tests for Grade 8 during 2006.

After careful consideration, the testing has now been shifted to the Grade 9 level and more tests have been added. These tests will be compulsory for all Grade 9 learners in WCED schools in 2008. The testing will take place during February and March of 2008, as well as in ensuing years. During the period of testing, learners will write two 90-minute tests on two alternative days.

The WCED's Directorate: Examinations will be using the Central Education Management Information System (CEMIS) database to register learners in public ordinary schools for these tests.

The test results will be made available to learners by the end of July of the same year so that corrective measures can applied where necessary.

You are, therefore, requested to update your Grade 9 learner data on the CEMIS by no later than 31 January 2008.

Only learners who are registered on the CEMIS as at 31 January 2008 will receive test papers, and only in the language of instruction as indicated.
