Circulars 0004/2007 and 0028/2007 and Curriculum Development Minute DCD/0058/2007 have reference. MEC Cameron Dugmore initiated a media campaign on 21 August 2007 to alert parents to the cut-off date of 10 September 2007 for the submission of school language policies and implementation plans.
2. |
Schools should kindly submit the policies and plans, as per the guidelines previously provided, to their circuit managers by that date.
2.1 |
As it is important for the consultative process to have been followed, schools are asked to affix the signatures of both the principal and the chairperson of the school governing body to the policy and plan.
2.2 |
Schools are asked to indicate in brief if the new policy differs from the previous one and, if so, to indicate what the differences are.
2.3 |
It is clear that schools will not necessarily be able to implement all the changes envisioned in their language policies immediately. The implementation plan is therefore a valuable tool, as it can indicate the variables that will affect the rollout of the plan.
3. |
We are happy to announce that schools will shortly be provided with a user-friendly Learning Programme for isiXhosa Second Additional Language, which is based on the National Curriculum Statement. This has been developed by a hard-working group of teachers and will be a valuable tool for schools.
4. |
Principals are requested to bring this notice to the attention of all concerned.
