1. The attached timetable for the ABET Level 4 Examinations in October 2007 has been received from the national Department of Education. The examinations will commence on 10 October 2007 and end on 30 October 2007. Each learning area will be written from 14:00 to 17:00 on the days indicated. As these examinations are a national process, the dates and times are applicable to the whole country and no deviation from the timetable can be allowed.
2. As in the past, EMDC and Head Office officials and Umalusi representatives will monitor the examinations process.
3. Should the examination be conducted on the premises of a mainstream school, the centre manager must make prior arrangements for the use of the strongroom, the administration building, classrooms, ablution facilities, etc.
4. Centres must ensure that their chief invigilators and invigilators are well-trained and able to deal effectively with the administration of the examinations.
5. No order to deal with administrative matters, centre managers must be at the examination centres before the commencement of and also at the end of each examination session.
6. No person may be allowed into the examination venue unless he or she has produced an authorised identification card.
7. Centre managers are also requested to
7.1 provide all their educators and candidates with the examinations timetable as soon as possible so as to enable them to make their final preparations for the examinations;
7.2 remind all their candidates that their identity documents and admission letters must be produced before the commencement of each examination; and
7.3 wish all their candidates well for the examinations on behalf of the Western Cape Education Department.
