1. The Western Cape Education Department is pleased to be able to provide the chief examiner for each paper with the results obtained for that paper in the province.
2. The information provided is confidential, but the chief examiners should share it with their examining panels. Statistics are given indicating the provincial average for each question, as well as the provincial average for the paper as a whole.
3. Examining panels are to study the statistics and discuss the implications of them for their subject, as well as for the candidates.
4. Where examiners have concerns or recommendations, the chief examiner is requested to submit a short report to the Director: Curriculum Development as soon as possible.
5. It is hoped that the provision of these statistics will assist examiners in setting well-balanced question papers.
