2008 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With this in mind, the Foundation for Peace and Co-operation, based in Spain, is dedicating its annual Peace and Co-operation School Awards Competition for 2007 to the promotion, in schools around the world, of an awareness of human rights.
|
2. |
The aim of the awards project is to enable children from different nationalities, races and cultures to express their views on human rights through drawing, design and photography.
|
3. |
The overall human rights theme is My right to decide. Teachers must note that the awards competition has three different categories, each one for a specific medium and age group. Appropriate methodologies should, therefore, be used when introducing the theme to learners. (See Annexure A.)

The 2007 International Art Awards are sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Madrid Provincial Government and various human rights NGOs.
