1. Registration, venues and time frames
1.1 This is a final follow-up notification of Curriculum Minute 0019/2007 regarding the above workshops scheduled for April 2007.
1.2 As stated in Curriculum Minute 0019/2007, where there are less than 12 teachers registered for a subject there will be no provincial-based workshop conducted for that particular subject, due to the excessive unit costs per teacher. The names of such teachers registered will be submitted to the relevant EMDCs for follow-up guidance and support.
1.3 Please find in Annexure A the subjects, venues, dates and times of the scheduled workshops. The workshops will be run in two sessions per day. The first session will be from 08:30 to 11:30. After a light lunch, the second session will be from 12:30 to 15:30.
1.4 Teachers who registered after Monday, 12 March 2007, can, regrettably, not be accommodated in the workshops for logistical reasons relating to the printing of materials, catering numbers and venue arrangements. Non or late-registered teachers who do attend must note that they will not be reimbursed for any personal expenses incurred.
2. Accommodation
2.1 Teachers requiring accommodation should book their own accommodation and may submit claims to a maximum of R 750 per day (all-inclusive - dinner, bed and breakfast).
2.2 Teachers who prefer private accommodation may claim a maximum of R 200 per day. In such cases, a receipt must be attached to the claim submitted.
2.3 The WCED will not reimburse any expenses derived from private telephone calls or alcoholic beverages.
3. Workshop requirements
3.1 Teachers are requested to bring the following policy and guideline documents, distributed to schools, to the orientation workshops:
3.1.1 National Curriculum Subject Statements
3.1.2 Learning Programme Guidelines
3.1.3 Subject Assessment Guidelines

4. Expenditure incurred by teachers
4.1 Teachers must submit their claim forms to the venue managers at the venue at the end of the workshop.
4.2 Teachers will be reimbursed for travelling and, where applicable, accommodation expenses.
4.3 It is therefore essential that each teacher brings the following to the workshop:
4.3.1 His or her Persal number
4.3.2 Registration details of the vehicle he or she used for transport
4.3.3 Banking details
4.3.4 All invoices of expenditure on the last day
4.4 Teachers making use of public transport (bus and train services) must attach official receipts to their claims. Where teachers make use of mini-busses, claims must be accompanied by either receipts issued or a letter from their principal stating expenditure incurred. Each teacher must submit a separate verified claim.
4.5 No teacher will be reimbursed for travelling or accommodation expenses incurred en route to the venue from his or her holiday destination, or incurred deviating from a venue where they are registered.
5. Principals are requested to ensure that the contents of this Curriculum Minute are brought to the attention of all Grade 10 to 12 teachers.
