1. The national Department of Education and the nine provincial education departments will be organising the South African Schools' Choral Eisteddfod for primary and secondary schools in 2007.
2. The eisteddfod makes provision for soloists, ensembles and school choirs in the following sections:
(a) Foundation Phase
(b) Intermediate Phase
(c) Senior Phase
(d) Further Education and Training Band
3. Music has been prescribed for all sections. Choirs that do not wish to participate in the categories for prescribed music may offer songs of their choice.
4. EMDC elimination rounds will be held during May. The best choirs and soloists will be invited to take part in the provincial finals, which will be held in Cape Town from 29 June to 1 July 2007.
5. The best choirs and soloists of each province will be invited to represent their respective provinces at the national finals in Johannesburg from 2 to 5 August 2007.
6. All schools are invited to participate in this eisteddfod. The rules for participation and the prescribed music are available from the Curriculum Adviser (Arts and Culture) attached to your EMDC. (Refer to the following list.)
