1. Circular 0056/2007 indicated that schools would receive the marking memoranda for Grade 11 national papers via e-mail. This has been done for all national papers written so far.
2. The WCED has since received requests to release, on the day of the examination, marking memoranda for question papers written in the afternoon so that teachers may begin marking immediately.

3. The following arrangements have now been made for schools to receive the relevant marking memoranda on the day of the examination:
3.1.1 Morning question papers: Marking memoranda will be sent via e-mail to schools and district directors by 12:00 on the day of the examination.
3.1.2 Afternoon question papers: Marking memoranda will be sent via e-mail to schools and district directors by 15:30 on the day of the examination.
3.1.3 Marking memoranda will also be posted on the Examinations and Assessment website at http://curriculum.pgwc.gov.za/site/22/res/view/917.

4. For security reasons, school principals are to ensure that the marking memoranda are not released to the classrooms or to teachers before the conclusion of the examination.
5. Should it be found that there has been a breach of security and confidentiality, the current arrangements for the release of the marking memoranda will be reviewed.
6. As stated in Circular 0056/2007, marking memoranda must be discussed in subject teams, under the leadership of the HOD or subject head, to ensure that all teachers in the school follow memoranda closely.
7. Mark sheets from the DOE for the Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy and the official languages will be sent to schools shortly. These will, however, be available only in hard-copy format and must be completed and returned to the WCED at the end of November.
8. The WCED thanks you for your commitment and co-operation in administering the Grade 11 examinations and ensuring their credibility.
