1. Circular 0056/2007 indicated that the national DoE required provinces to moderate the scripts of Languages, Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy and to supply mark sheets and schedules for all schools. The mark sheets for all candidates in these subjects will no longer be required and schools must therefore proceed with their own mark sheets for these subjects.

2. Moderation
2.1 Schools are reminded to supply 9 internally moderated scripts to the WCED for the following subjects:
  • English Home Language Papers 1 and 3
  • English First Additional Language Papers 1 and 3
  • Afrikaans Home Language Papers 1 and 3
  • Afrikaans First Additional Language Papers 1 and 3
  • Afrikaans Second Additional Language Papers 1 and 2
  • isiXhosa Home Language Papers 1 and 3
  • isiXhosa First Additional Language Papers 1 and 3
  • isiXhosa Second Additional Language Papers 1 and 3
  • Mathematics Papers 1 and 2
  • Mathematical Literacy Papers 1 and 2
2.2 Scripts must be chosen, sorted and packed according to the guide provided in Circular 0056/2007.

3. Mark sheets
3.1 Schools are required to submit mark sheets for the scripts that will be submitted for moderation. The mark sheets must include the personal details of the learners and the marks per question per as indicated in mark sheet (WCED1).
3.2 Schools must complete the accompanying individual question mark sheet for each of the above subjects offered at the school.
3.3 A printed copy of each individual mark sheet for the above-mentioned subjects must be included with the scripts sent to the province for moderation.
3.4 Schools must please ensure that all the mark sheets are ready for collection on 29 November 2007. The Examination Directorate’s courier service will collect the scripts and mark sheets on 29 or 30 November 2007.

4. Promotion schedule
4.1 Schools must supply the district offices with their promotion schedules as normal. The WCED will obtain these schedules directly from the district offices once the promotion process has been effected.
4.2 Schools may use their own promotion schedule, the schedule provided in Circular 0049/2007 or the schedule accompanying this minute (WCED2).

5. Subject mark sheet
5.1 The DOE has indicated that they will require the Grade 11 subject marks (CASS marks and examination marks per paper) for all subjects written by schools this year.
5.2 Mark sheets to capture the Grade 11 (2007) data will be sent to schools to schools in January 2008.
5.3 This data will be used to further test the new Grade 12 computer programme.
5.4 An exemplar (WCED3) of the data required per subject accompanies this minute.
5.5 Principals must ensure that their school has the relevant data in preparation for this task in 2008.

6. The WCED apologises for the late announcement regarding the mark sheets and thanks schools for their commitment and co-operation in administering the Grade 11 examinations.
