The conditions of appointment and service benefits of Public Service employees who were appointed for fixed terms in vacant substantive posts up to 31 March 2006 have been covered in Circular No. 0055/2005 dated 19 September 2005.

This circular minute serves as a reminder thereof as well as confirmation that all contract employees who qualified in terms of the conditions in the above-mentioned circular, have been appointed on probation with effect from 1 April 2006. The letters in this regard have been mailed and should be received at the schools by no later than 26 April 2006.

The probation extends over a one year period from 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2007 and during this period quarterly reports must be completed and signed by all relevant parties and returned to the WCED on the due dates as specified in the memorandum to the principal that accompanies the appointment letters.

The salary dates of persons appointed on probation is the last day of each month.

A vacancy bulletin for Foreman posts be will be issued by 16 May 2006. Other Public Service Staff vacancies will be advertised after the finalisation of the review of the Post provisioning norms in respect of schools.
