1. The contract for the purchase of learning and teaching support material by schools expired on 31 July 2006. A new contract for the contract period 1 August 2006 to 31 July 2008 has been approved.
2. Attached are lists of approved suppliers from whom schools can purchase their textbooks and other material in accordance with paragraph 7.5 of Circular 0062/2004 of 15 November 2004.
3. The suppliers classified as HDI and SMME appear on the first list (Annexure A). At least 70% of your school’s allocation for text and other books must be purchased from these suppliers.
4. The second list (Annexure B) comprises the suppliers not classified as HDI and SMME, from which a maximum of 30% of your school’s allocation for text and other books may be purchased.
5. More suppliers have applied to be registered, but the WCED is still considering their applications. The two lists will therefore be continually amended.
