1. In terms of the provisions of the National Archives and Record Service of South Africa Act, 1996 (Act 43/1996), as amended, and the regulations promulgated in terms thereof, governmental bodies may consider using off-site facilities to store their records.
2. The National Archives Service of South Africa has requested that all institutions be reminded about the policy regarding off-site storage facilities with which every governmental body needs to comply when considering housing their records in such a facility.
3. You are requested to adhere to the attached policy and procedure (Annexure A) for the off-site storage of WCED records closely. For these purposes, satellite offices are to be regarded as off-site facilities.
4. It is emphasised that all requests for the off-site storage of records must be submitted for further attention to Mr JT Solomons at the address that appears in the footer at the bottom of this page.
