Enclosed are your IRP 5 / IT 3(a) certificates for the 2005/2006 tax year.

The certificates must be handed to the employees on your establishment. Please ensure that the remaining certificates of employees who were in your service during the 2005/2006 tax year, are forwarded to their new paypoint or home addresses immediately, or returned to this office.

As the Tax Section of this Department is usually inundated with requests for the issuing of duplicate IRP 5 certificates, it has become apparent that some employees do not have due regard the value and importance of IRP 5 certificates. This results in an official in the Tax Section being kept busy on a full-time basis issuing duplicate IRP 5 certificates.

Upon receipt of their IRP 5 certificates, all employees should thus ensure that the certificate is stored safely in order to lighten the administrative load on the Tax Section.

As duplicate IRP 5 certificates were previously issued manually, the waiting period was relatively short. Duplicate certificates are now issued by way of the Persal system and printed only once a week.

| 4.3 |
In future only a written request for a duplicate IRP 5 certificate will be accepted and such a request must be accompanied by an affidavit attesting to the loss of the original certificate.

Bearing the above-mentioned in mind, serious consideration will be given to charging a fee (up to an amount of R50.00) for the re-issue of an IRP 5 certificate.

This year’s closing date for the submission of tax returns to the South African Revenue Services is 14 July 2006. In cases where extension is required, it is the employee’s responsibility to request the Receiver of Revenue for such an extension.

Please ensure that the contents of this minute is brought to the attention of all personnel.
