1. This year, entries of full-time learners in all public schools for the November 2006 Senior Certificate Examination will be handled via the CEMIS database.
2. You are urgently requested to ensure that the data for all Grade 12 learners on the CEMIS database is updated. Please note the following additional fields that have been introduced:
2.1 Certificate language
2.2 Immigration status
2.3 Diacritical signs in name or surname
2.4 Area code and telephone number
2.5 Additional subjects (provision is now made for 10 subjects)
3. After completion of all fields, including the above, you must print a schedule for each entry and check it. After corrections have been made to the learner record, the schedule must be printed again. The head of the institutions must then certify the schedule as correct and submit it to the Western Cape Education Department by no later than 24 March 2006:

4. The learners at independent schools shall be registered according to the online system of 2005. The function for this purpose will be opened shortly. Independent schools that do not have access to the online system will be allowed to use entry forms. The entries of ABET and private learners will be addressed in a separate letter.
