1. The national Department of Education will conduct full-scale examinations in 2007 for Grade 11 learners, i.e. set all question papers to be written by this cohort of learners. However, question papers for the literature section of the official languages for Grade 11 learners will be set by the individual provincial education departments.
2. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) invites applications for the posts of examiners and internal moderators to set literature papers for Grade 11 learners for 2007 in the attached list of languages (Annexure A).
3. Applications are invited from subject specialists and educators who are in possession of a recognized 3-year post-matric qualification, which must include the language concerned at third-year level, and who have acquired at least three years' teaching experience at Senior Certificate level within the past five years. Extensive knowledge and experience of instructional programmes and assessment practices at FET schools, experience in setting and/or marking Senior Certificate examination question papers, and familiarity with the National Curriculum Statement will be strong recommendations.
4. Applications on the attached application form (Annexure B) must be accompanied by certified copies of the applicant's qualification certificates, transcripts indicating subjects passed and a brief letter from the applicant justifying why the WCED should appoint him or her. All applications must be submitted by 29 September 2006 to one of the following addresses:

5. All successful applicants will be appointed for a period of one year and must be prepared to work under pressure as these question papers must be submitted, already moderated, to the WCED by 30 March 2007.
