1. Curriculum Minute 0071/2006 indicated that exemplar question papers for Grade 10 would be sent at the end of August 2006 to all schools in the country. This initiative is an attempt by the national Department of Education to assist schools in preparation for the National Senior Certificate examinations in 2008.
2. Enclosed with this minute, please find the exemplar question papers for Grade 10 as promised.
2.1 Edumedia has produced compact disks (CDs) containing these exemplars and will be selling them to schools at cost price. The same exemplars are available on the Webpage of the Directorate: Curriculum Development at the following address:

2.2 Principals must use the checklist provided to determine whether all the question papers necessary for their schools have been provided.
2.3 Principals must ensure that the exemplars are utilised effectively by the subject teams to set their final Grade 10 examination papers for the school. Under no circumstances may the exemplars be used as the final examination.
2.4 Schools are invited to comment on the national question papers by fax to the Director: Curriculum Development at 021 467 2620. This must be done on a school letterhead with the heading: Grade 10 national exemplar question papers.
