The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) announced in Curriculum Minutes 0021/2006 and 0040/2006 that Religion Studies teachers would be trained from 3 to 7 July 2006 at Boys’ High School, Paarl.

However, the National Department of Education (DoE) has since invited teachers of the WCED to participate in the national training process to be conducted in Port Elizabeth. This course will now replace the WCED’s orientation programme in Paarl.

This minute therefore serves to inform all concerned that the NCS FET orientation course for Religion Studies teachers in Paarl has been cancelled and will be replaced by the national training course in Port Elizabeth.

The Head of Education has granted permission for the training of Religion Studies teachers to take place in Port Elizabeth from 26 to 30 June 2006.

The national training programme can accommodate only a limited number of teachers. All teachers who registered for the Paarl course by the due date in accordance with Curriculum Minute 0021/2006 have been accepted. The schools concerned have already been informed.

The WCED will fund all travel expenses and the National Department of Education will fund all accommodation expenses.

Principals are kindly requested to bring the contents of this minute to the attention of all the teachers concerned. |
