The provisional lists of prescribed books for literature study for 2007 are enclosed. These lists exclude the lists for Grades 10 and 11 for South Africa’s official languages, which will be sent to schools later in the year.

The lists have been compiled with the purpose of reducing the need to purchase new books, but provision has also been made for the introduction of new titles.

The lists of books for Grades 10, 11 and 12 for the other non-official languages and for Grade 12 for the official languages are final.

You are invited to submit recommendations or comments on the matter (preferably in writing) by no later than 14:00 on 23 June 2006. The Prescribed Book Committees will consider all recommendations and comments and, if necessary, amendments will be made before the final lists are distributed.
