1. Further to Curriculum Minute 0021/2006 and 0040/2006, the following applies to the training of teachers of Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Management Practices and Agricultural Technology.
2. The Head of Education has granted permission for the training of teachers in the above-mentioned subjects. Kindly note the following important information regarding the training:
Training dates: 5 to 9 June 2006
Venue: Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West
Times: 08:00 - 17:00 each day
3. All teachers will be accommodated at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West for the duration of the workshop. All accommodation costs will be funded.
4. Teachers attending this workshop have to register with Head Office. The attached registration form must be submitted to Mr T Botha at e-mail address tbotha@pgwc.gov.za or at fax no. 021 467 2258, by 31 May 2006. His telephone contact numbers are 021 467 2559/2585. Teachers who do not register will, for logistical reasons, not be permitted to attend the workshop.
5. Workshop requirements

Teachers are requested to bring the following policy and guideline documents (already distributed to schools) to the orientation workshop:

  • National curriculum subject statements

  • Learning programme guidelines

  • Subject assessment guidelines

  • National Protocol on Assessment

  • Guidelines for ICT Integration with NCS Subjects in Grades 10 - 12

  • The National Senior Certificate: A Qualification at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)

  • Minimum Admission Requirements for Higher Education, Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree Programmes requiring a National Senior Certificate

  • New textbooks or other relevant subject material

6. Teachers attending this centralised workshop must take responsibility for their travel arrangements. Travel costs may be claimed by each teacher from his or her local EMDC. Any other costs incurred by teachers will not be reimbursed by the WCED.
7. It is essential that each teacher brings the following to the workshop:
  • His or her Persal number

  • Registration details and engine size of the vehicle he or she is using for transport

  • His or her bank account details

8. Teachers making use of public transport (bus and train services) must attach official receipts to their claims. Where teachers make use of mini-buses, claims must be accompanied by either receipts issued or a letter from the school principal verifying the expenditure incurred. Each teacher must submit a separate verified claim.
9. Principals are kindly requested to
  • adhere to the submission date of 31 May 2006,

  • ensure that teachers adhere to the workshop requirements, and

  • bring the contents of this curriculum minute to the attention of all Grade 10 to 12 teachers teaching the three agricultural subjects.
