1. The attached timetable for the ABET Level 4 examination in June 2006 has been received from the National Department of Education. The examination will commence on 1 June 2006 and end on 22 June 2006. Each learning area will be written from 14:00 to 17:00. As this assessment is a national process, the dates and times are applicable to the whole country and no deviation from the timetable can be allowed.
2. As in the past, EMDC and Head Office officials, and UMALUSI representatives will monitor the examination process.
3. Should the assessment be conducted on the premises of a mainstream school, the centre manager must make prior arrangements for the use of the strong room, the administration building, classrooms, ablution facilities, etc.
4. Centres must ensure that their chief invigilators and invigilators are well-trained and able to deal effectively with the administration of the examination.
5. It is the function of the centre managers to manage the administrative matters. All centre managers must therefore be at the examination centres before the commencement and also at the end of each assessment session.
6. No person may be allowed into the examination venue unless he or she has produced an admissions letter or authorised identification card or letter.
7. Centre managers are also requested to:
7.1 provide all their educators and candidates with the timetable as soon as possible to enable them to make their final preparations for the examination.
7.2 remind all their candidates that their identity documents and admission letters must be produced before the commencement of each assessment session.
7.3 wish all their candidates well for the assessment on behalf of the Western Cape Education Department.
