1. Pacesetters have been developed for each of the FET NCS subjects to support teachers in planning their work schedules and lesson plans.
2. In each pacesetter, the relevant Learning Outcomes and Assessment Standards for the subjects have been specified. Content detail and assessment tasks are identified and aligned to the Learning Outcomes and Assessment Standards and time frames for the completion of the work are recommended.
3. The purpose of these pacesetters is twofold: To provide teachers with an academic year framework, i.e. a work schedule; and to assist teachers to complete the curriculum timeously in preparation for the Grade 11 examination at the end of the year.
4. It must be noted that the work should be completed at the end of the third term and the fourth term should be used for revision and to consolidate examination writing techniques and skills.
5. Principals must please ensure that a copy of the pacesetters that will be sent to schools is made available to each teacher on the staff to ensure that teachers complete the curriculum. Principals should monitor implementation of the pacesetters.
6. Should teachers require additional support, they should contact the relevant curriculum adviser at their EMDC.
