1. The implementation of the baseline evaluation of the Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS) for school-based educators is well underway at schools across the province. The Directorate Human Resource Development wishes to thank staff at all schools for their enthusiasm and dedication to ensure that the Management Plan as set out in HRD/0062/2004 is being implemented.
2. As the Western Cape Education Department wishes to be absolutely certain that everybody concerned is equipped to implement this important system, personnel will be given the opportunity to attend a final IQMS training session.
3. Therefore, if there are educators who missed the initial training sessions or who wish to attend a refresher session, they must contact the IQMS co-ordinator or circuit manager at their local education management and development centre (EMDC) to register for one the following sessions:

4. Principals and Staff Development Teams (SDTs) are once again reminded that they must ensure that all educators have signed an educator list confirming receipt of their copy of the IQMS Support Material and confirming that they have attended an IQMS training session. This is an integral part of the administrative processes of the IQMS required in terms of Collective Agreement 8/2003.
5. By now principals and SDTs should have contacted their circuit managers regarding the conducting of the principal’s evaluation and for assistance to the SDT with the compilation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) based on the completed Personal Growth Plan (PGPs) of each educator.
6. Educators, SDTs and principals are encouraged to visit the WCED web site, http://www.hrd.wcape.school.za, for the latest IQMS news, resources and other materials. Regular visits to this web site for downloads will facilitate the implementation process at site level.
