With a view to examination question papers of an improved quality, and increased readiness for the implementation of Outcomes-Based Education in the Further Education and Training (FET) band, the Department of Education is inviting applications for posts of examiners and moderators which are examined nationally.

Applications are awaited from subject specialist/educators who are in possession of a recognized 3-year post matric qualification which must include the subject concerned at third year level, supplemented by at least two years’ teaching experience at Senior Certificate level within the last five years. Extensive knowledge and experience of instructional programmes and assessment practices at FET schools, as well as experience in the setting and marking of Senior Certificate examination question papers, and also familiar with the National Curriculum Statement will be an added advantage. Examiners and moderators serving on the national panels must be familiar with the current developments and processes leading to the new Further Education and Training Certificate for Schools in 2006.

Successful applicants will be required to travel to Pretoria from time to time in order to execute their functions. They will also have to sign a contract for two years and an agreement of confidentiality.
