This minute must be read in conjunction with the Circular 0027/2004, which deals with standardisation, appeals and certification as regards ABET Level 4.

National policy, as expounded in the policy document, National Policy on the conduct of ABET Level 4 Examinations, and which was provided to public adult learning centres in 2002, makes provision for the awarding of a GET Certificate to a candidate who qualifies for a combined certificate.

As per Par. 4.5 of Circular 0027/2004, centre managers must retain records of all learners who have written ABET level examinations since November 2001 and apply to the Directorate: Examinations for a combined GET Certificate when the candidate satisfies the requirements for the qualification.

In future, all applications for the issuing of a combined GET Certificate must be submitted to the Department on the attached application form (Annexure A), together with the prescribed fee of R18.00.

The content of this minute must be brought to the attention of all candidates who offer or intend offering learning areas toward an ABET GET Certificate.
