1. Applications are awaited from persons who wish to act as chief markers, or moderators of learning areas (list of learning areas attached) assessed during the June and October ABET Level 4 examinations. These persons must satisfy the criteria in paragraph 2 below.
2. General criteria
2.1 Teaching experience: Appropriate teaching experience, including teaching experience at level 4 in the learning area concerned.
2.2 Qualifications: A recognised three-year teacher qualification.
2.3 Learning Area competency. Learning area present in qualification record.
3. Chief markers are expected to attend memorandum discussions in Pretoria and also write final reports for the department as well as the public.
4. An applicant must complete a separate application form for each learning area for which he/ she applies.
5. Applicants
5.1 Certified copies of qualifications must accompany the application forms of all applicants.
5.2 If the above-mentioned documents do not accompany an application form, the application will not be considered. NO exception will be made and no correspondence will be conducted with applicants in this regard.
5.3 Applications should be made on the attached, prescribed application form which is also obtainable from the:

Copies of the attached form may be made. Duly completed application forms must be submitted to the Directorate: Examinations not later than 29 April 2005.

6. Marking of examination scripts will commence on Monday, 04 July 2005 and will conclude on Friday, 08 July 2005 for the June assessment and on Monday, 21 November 2005 till Friday 25 November 2005 for the October assessment.
7. The marking tariff for each subject will be made available as soon as possible. Each Moderator, and marker responsible for the marking and/or moderation of scripts will be taxed in accordance with the Income Tax Act.
8. Please note that ALL applications must reach this office not later than 29 April 2005. Applications received AFTER the closing date will NOT be considered. Applications must be submitted to

9. It is imperative that principals, EMDC Directors and circuit managers bring the contents of this circular to the notice of all educators concerned, including those on leave. This Directorate does not accept responsibility for educators who are not informed of the contents of the circular minute timeously.
10. Applicants must please note that all application forms must be signed by the principal (in the case of educators), and by directors or delegated persons (in the case of principals, senior curriculum planners, chief curriculum planners and curriculum advisors). Unsigned forms will be returned to the applicants. The onus rests on applicants to ensure that the correctly completed application form reaches this office before or on the closing date.
