1. Schools which offer Computer Studies HG and SG at Grade 12 level should note that Computer Studies HG and SG Paper 2 (the Practical examination) for the Senior Certificate Examination will, as from November 2005, be marked at the provincial marking centre along with all other Senior Certificate papers.
2. Schools which offer Computer Studies HG and/or SG must save all files completed by candidates for the Paper 2 examination on the CD sent to the school and submit the CD immediately after the writing of Computer Studies HG Paper 2 on 14 October 2005 and SG Paper 2 on 02 November 2005.
3. Immediately after the completion of the examination, the candidates’ work must be copied to the CD in the presence of an invigilator. The cover of the CD must be labelled with the centre number. A backup CD must be retained by the school.
3.1 COMPUTER STUDIES HG:
3.1.1 For Computer Studies HG a folder must be created for each candidate, labelled with the candidate’s examination number, with sub-folders for Java and Databases, and containing the candidate’s work for the respective sections.
3.2 COMPUTER STUDIES SG:
3.2.1 For Computer Studies SG the annexure detailing which questions the candidates opted to answer must be submitted with the CD. The required annexure will be included with the question paper.
3.2.2 For Computer Studies SG, a folder must be created for each candidate, labelled with the candidate’s examination number and containing all the candidate’s work.
4. Please note that the HG and SG work must not be saved on the same CD. CDs for Computer Studies HG and SG must be packaged by the invigilator and couriered together with a copy of the attendance register and seating plan to the Directorate: Examinations, for the attention of Mr E van Breda. Where examination centres cater for candidates of different schools, a separate folder must be created on the appropriate CD for each of the schools writing at that examination centre. Please note, only one CD per grade per examination centre.
5. Saving candidates’ work on stiffies is discouraged. However, if a school is unable to save candidates’ work on the CD, that school must obtain permission from the Department by contacting Mr I Francis at e-mail ifrancis@pgwc.gov.za or telephone number 021- 467 2549 before the writing of Paper 2.
