1. In preparation for the implementation of the FET National Curriculum Statement in Grade 10 in 2006, it is compulsory for teachers who did not attended the training in Life Orientation for Grade 10 in March and April 2005 to attend both of the following training sessions during 2006 school holidays:
1.1 Personal Well-being - Learning Outcome 1 (Today’s Choices II - a programme to unpack Outcome 1) from 12 to 14 January 2006.
1.2 Career and Career Choices - Learning Outcome 4 (Second Phase: Advise and Refer - a programme to support Outcome 4) from 6 to 8 April 2006.
2. The purpose of these workshops is to analyse the content of the above learning outcomes and relevant assessment standards and to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes for the effective teaching and assessment of this new subject.
3. The resources pertaining to both of these courses will be distributed only at the training venues. The information is both computer- and paper-based. All training will take place in a computer laboratory to enhance the electronic application of the curriculum.
4. Information regarding times and venues for the Personal Well-being workshops will be made available by the end of November 2005, and for the Career Guidance workshops by the end of February 2006.
5. Principals are kindly requested to promptly bring this minute to the attention of all Grade 10 Life Orientation educators.
