1. All EMDCs have supplied Head Office with a list of the names of teachers who attended the RNCS training courses in 2003 and 2004. Schools were subsequently asked, in Curriculum Minute DCD/0007/2005, to provide the names of those of their teachers who attended the RNCS course. When schools replied, their lists were checked against those of the EMDCs and the following anomalies were discovered:

  • Certain schools do not appear on the EMDCs’ lists.

  • The names of some teachers on the schools’ lists do not appear on the EMDCs’ lists.

In fact, most of the schools’ lists do not agree with the lists of their EMDCs.
2. EMDCs should note that teachers whose names do not appear on the EMDCs’ lists will not be issued with certificates. Any queries from the schools will have to be handled by the EMDCs concerned.
3. Each EMDC official who will be handling queries about RNCS course certificates must, by 16 May 2005, supply his or her contact details to Ms Hazel Visser at fax no. 467 2258 or at e-mail address H. Visser (hvisser@pgwc.gov.za) . Ms Visser will then arrange to meet with each official to explain the attendance verification process that now needs to be followed by the EMDC and to hand over copies of that EMDC’s schools’ lists which were submitted to Head Office.
4. If an EMDC has proof of attendance at the course by any teacher not listed as somebody who will receive a certificate, then this must be rectified by 27 May 2005 with Ms Hazel Visser. A copy of the relevant attendance registers will be required in such cases. Thereafter, all queries about certificates will be referred to the relevant EMDC contact person.
5. Attached please find the following:

  • The names of the schools that do not appear on the lists of EMDCs

  • An example of list from a school in your EMDC district that does not correspond with the EMDC’s list
