Pursuant to Minute LS/0003/2004 of 17 February 2004, the attention of principals and chairpersons of governing bodies is drawn to the fact that the State President has declared 14 April 2004 (national election day) a public holiday (Government Gazette 26075 of 19 February 2004). |

According to the official school calendar for 2004, schools in the Western Cape would have started the second quarter on 14 April 2004, but in view of the public holiday on that day, the schools concerned will now re-open on 15 April 2004. |

Principals and chairpersons of governing bodies are requested to bring the contents of this minute to the attention of all staff, parents, guardians and learners without delay. |
