The UNISA/South African National Literacy Initiative (SANLI), which catered for pre-ABET and ABET Level 1 learners has been terminated owing to a lack of funds. UNISA/SANLI was co-ordinated by UNISA in partnership with the Department of Education, and implemented in the Western Cape in 2002 and 2003 as part of the Tirisano programme initiated by the Minister of Education. |

Learners who were part of the UNISA/SANLI project must be encouraged to enrol at a community learning centre (CLC) where they will have to undergo a placement test in order to ensure that they are placed at the correct level. |

Centre managers and EMDC staff are requested to assist UNISA/SANLI learning sites which have not been registered, to register with the WCED. |
