The 7th World Convention of the International Confederation of Principals (ICP) will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, which is centrally situated with easy access to accommodation and transport facilities, from Sunday July 10 to Thursday July 14 2005, the first time ever on the African continent. |

The theme of the 2005 ICP Convention, which has the full support of the City of Cape Town, South African Tourism and the national Department of Education, is Ubuntu (Humanity to others) - Humanity, community and responsibility. |

This biennial convention gives principals the opportunity to discuss matters common to them, e.g. the challenges of educating learners in the 21st century, encouraging staff to develop to their full potential, and developing strategies to deal with new political, legislative and socio-economic demands made on schools. |

Different types of presentations will be included at the convention: papers presented by guest speakers during plenary sessions, symposiums, seminars and practical workshops held during the breakaway sessions. |

Among the guest speakers will be President Thabo Mbeki, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Ms Naledi Pandor, Mrs Graca Machel, Mr Pieter-Dirk Uys, Mr Mark Shuttleworth, Professor Louise Stoll (Head of Professional Learning, University of Bath, UK), President Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland), Dr Barry McGaw (Director of Education, Paris, France) and Baroness Helena Kennedy (Chairwoman of the British Council, UK). |
