The Department of Education (DoE), in collaboration with the WCED, will conduct a countrywide systemic evaluation of the Intermediate Phase from 1 to 21 September 2004. Since this will involve primary, combined and intermediate schools across the Western Cape, officials from all EMDCs will be requested to assist with the collection of data. |

The final selection of schools has yet to be made by the DoE, but it has been established from the preliminary sample that if 6 officials per EMDC were made available for this purpose the survey would be completed within 12 school days. |

You are therefore requested to select officials who will be able to assist with this essential aspect of the systemic evaluation. Training in the procedure of data collection has been scheduled for 24 and 25 August 2004, and visits to the schools will commence on Wednesday 1 September 2004. |
