1. The current WCED Employment Equity Plan, which was adopted in 2002, is a 5-year plan which sets equity targets to be reached by 2007. In order to achieve these objectives, all line managers are requested to make Employment Equity an integral part of the Human Resource Management Plan of their institutions and to ensure that their human resource practices are in line with the objectives of the EE plan.
2. Tables depicting the current staff profiles and projected targets for CS educators and public service personnel in the FET sector in the Western Cape Province are attached for your information.
3. The electronic templates provided must be used to compile profiles and set targets for WCED-remunerated and CS educators and public service personnel at institutions. These proflies and targets must be in line with the WCED EE plan and must be based on the economically active population of the Western Cape Province as reflected in the 2001 census. The college council, as an employer, must also prepare an EE plan (profiles and targets) for council-remunerated staff.
4. The profiles and targets referred to above must be submitted to the Directorate: Human Resource Development by no later than 30 July 2004.
5. All future nominations for appointment will be monitored against the targets set for each FET institution.
