1. From the 2nd term of 2004 the Western Cape Education Department will be presenting workshops to ensure the effective implementation of its Employment Equity Plan at all educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
2. As a full understanding of all the issues concerning the implementation of the Employment Equity Plan is of great importance, these workshops will deal with the following, amongst others:

  • The Employment Equity Act

  • Employment equity and affirmative action

  • Understanding diversity

  • Skills development in order to advance employment equity
3. Each institution will be required to send three representatives (the head, an educator representative and the chairperson of the governing body) to the workshop.
4. Circuit managers will notify heads of institutions of the dates for the workshops in their respective circuits. Prior to attending the workshop each delegate will be required to prepare brief responses to a few questions.
