The Department of Health has notified the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) of their planned mass polio and measles immunisation campaign for children under the age of 5 years. |

The WCED supports this initiative and asks that all schools request their teachers, non-teaching staff and learners to encourage parents and caregivers to take any children under the age of 5 years to the nearest health clinic or immunisation post during both of the following periods:
First round of immunisations: 26 - 30 July 2004
Second round of immunisations: 30 August - 3 September 2004

It is important for schools to remind parents and caregivers that children should be taken for both rounds of immunisation. |
