The CASS portfolio for LATIN HG 2004 must reach the Department not later than 15 October 2004. It must contain the following evidence, accompanied by a mark list ( Addendum A ) with marks reduced to the total as indicated below:
June and September examination papers, plus the learner’s answers of:
Paper I (Prescribed Literature: grammar, translation, comprehension, scansion) 50
Paper II (Unseen translation) 25
Three assignments 25
TOTAL 100 |

The Department will forward the computerised mark sheet for the Latin HG (CASS portfolio) directly to the moderator concerned. |

With regard to the classical culture, your attention is drawn to the FINAL LIST OF PRESCRIBED LITERATURE STUDY FOR LATIN HG: CLASSICAL CULTURE: GRADE 11 (2003) and GRADE 12 (2004), as well as GUIDELINES: LATIN HG 2000: ASSIGNMENTS. |

The assignments, arranged in chronological order and accompanied by the completed mark sheet ( copy attached, Addendum B ), must be included in the portfolio. Schools may make additional copies of the mark sheet. |

Three assignments are to be done, at least one on the Prescribed Literature Section and at least one on the General Background Section. All three assignments carry equal weight (331/3 %). Each of the three assignments counts 50 marks, with the total (150) converted to 25 marks. Only one assignment may be done on a particular theme. An official mark sheet ( copy attached, Addendum C ) must accompany each assignment. Also include an alphabetical list of candidates with the titles of each candidate’s assignments in chronological order. |

At the written request of principals, the portfolios will be returned to the school after the release of results. |
