1. The WCED wishes to thank all principals and teachers who made time during the holidays to attend training on the Revised National Curriculum Statement (RNCS). This training provided teachers with the opportunity to start planning Learning Programmes for the three grades of the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4 to 6).
2. Principals are requested to encourage teachers to continue their planning of Learning Programmes for 2005 at times and in ways that suit the school's overall programme of activities.
3. To enable the WCED to provide support in this ongoing planning process, Draft Learning Programmes, or at least a plan indicating how these programmes will be completed by the end of October, must be submitted to the Chief Curriculum Adviser at the EMDC concerned by no later than 10 September 2004.
4. The WCED RNCS tables for planning (English and Afrikaans) can now be downloaded from the Revised National Curriculum website  (http://curriculum.wcape.school.za/site/104/page/view/). Click on 'Policies…' and scroll to 'Learning support'. These tables are also available on CD from Edumedia at 021 689 9536.
5. In September schools will be provided with exemplar Learning Programmes for Languages and Mathematics.
