Schools offering isiXhosa as Third Language are advised that the current syllabus remains in place until replaced by the National Curriculum Statement: Second Additional Language, which will be phased in, in Grade 10 in 2006, with the Further Education & Training Certificate being written in 2008. |

The Grade 10 cohort of 2005 will be the last group of learners to follow the current syllabus to Grade 12. |

Copies of the National Curriculum Statement for Languages will be sent to all schools offering Grades 10 to 12 later this year. |
