1. Some candidates have been following an accelerated programme to enable them to write one or more Senior Certificate examination subjects at the end of Grade 11.
2. Although this is permissible, the candidates concerned may only enter for these subjects as private candidates. This means that continuous assessment is not included in their marks.
3. Subjects written at the end of Grade 11 do not count towards the aggregate (720/950 marks) that a candidate requires to obtain the Senior Certificate at the end of Grade 12. In order to have these subject(s) included on his or her Senior Certificate, a candidate must apply to the Western Cape Education Department in June of his or her Grade 12 year.
