Some candidates have been following an accelerated programme to enable them to write one or more Senior Certificate examination subjects at the end of Grade 11. |

Although this is permissible, the candidates concerned may only enter for these subjects as private candidates. This means that continuous assessment is not included in their marks. |

Subjects written at the end of Grade 11 do not count towards the aggregate (720/950 marks) that a candidate requires to obtain the Senior Certificate at the end of Grade 12. In order to have these subject(s) included on his or her Senior Certificate, a candidate must apply to the Western Cape Education Department in June of his or her Grade 12 year. |
