Approval has been granted for an increase in the following bursaries with effect from 1 April 2018: |
1.1 |
The maximum boarding bursaries payable to needy learners in hostels attached to ordinary public schools has been increased from R8 349.00 to R8 974.00 per learner per annum. |
1.2 |
The maximum private boarding and transport bursaries payable to needy learners in the West Coast, Cape Winelands, Eden & Central Karoo and Overberg Education Districts has been increased from R1 916.00 to R2 040.00 per learner per annum.
N.B. All of the above bursaries are calculated according to the approved means test (see IMGP Minute 0016/2011) and criteria set out in Circular 0143/1998 of 6 November 1998 and Circular 0029/2001 of 13 March 2001. |

Approval has also been granted for increases in the following personnel subsidies with effect from 1 April 2018: |
2.1 |
The personnel subsidy payable to ordinary public schools with an enrolment of fewer than 201 learners, for the employment of administrative- and general services staff, has been increased from R550.00 to R586.00 per learner per annum. A minimum of R21 000.00 will be paid to a school. |
2.2 |
The personnel subsidy payable to ordinary public schools hostels with fewer than 50 boarders, for the employment of administrative staff, has been increased from R8 349.00 to R8 974.00 per learner per annum. |
2.3 |
The personnel subsidy payable to church- or private hostels, for the employment of administrative- and cleaning services staff, has been increased from R1 920.00 to R2 045.00 per learner per annum. |
