1. This circular has been revised and repeals Circular 0039/1995 in its entirety.

2. The Application to Travel form has been updated by Government Motor Transport (GMT) and is hereby attached for immediate implementation.

3. The following officials are authorised to approve trip authorities:

  • Deputy Directors or higher at Head Office and district offices; and
  • Departmental Heads at institutions.
4. The trip authority with regard to permanently allocated GG vehicles is valid for one calendar month only and must be supported by the prescribed itinerary.

5. The authority is valid only for officials in the execution of their official duties and private passengers duly authorised to travel with the officials.

6. The authority is valid only if a departmental authority number has been issued by the relevant transport officer at Head Office or the district office.

7. Original authorities must be kept in the vehicle at all times and be available on request.

8. The content of this circular must be brought to the attention of all concerned.
