SUBJECT:

ONLINE ORDERING OF LEARNER AND TEACHER STATIONERY AS WELL AS CLEANING MATERIALS IN THE 2014/2015 FINANCIAL YEAR FOR ALL NON-SECTION 21 SCHOOLS

1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) places orders for textbooks, teacher and learner stationery as well as cleaning materials on behalf of all non-section 21 schools, upon receipt of their requisitions.
2. To improve and expedite the administration of the ordering process, the WCED will introduce an online service on CEMIS for non-section 21 schools to order their learner and teacher stationery as well as cleaning materials for use in 2015.
3. The online service will be open to all non-section 21 schools via CEMIS from Tuesday, 17 June 2014 until Friday, 27 June 2014.
4. Annexures A to D (attached) contain the minimum stationery requirements for learners in the Foundation, Intermediate and Senior Phases as well as learners in the Further Education and Training Phase.
5. All the items listed in Annexures A to D are in the online stationery catalogue. Schools are advised to use Annexures A to D as a guide for the provisioning of learner stationery.
6. Schools will be required to use their Norms and Standards funds to purchase top up textbooks for January 2015 as well as additional textbooks as a result of learner growth. Further details in this regard will be communicated before the end of this school term. It is very important for schools to plan carefully in determining how their Norms and Standards funds are managed to ensure the availability of sufficient funds for all learner requirements.
7. Kindly bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all relevant officials.
