1. The above-mentioned guidelines are attached.

2. These guidelines deal with the following:

  1. Safety of learners in the playground
  2. The roles and responsibilities of the principal and the educators
  3. Suitable playground surfaces
  4. Poisonous and otherwise unsuitable plants
  5. The selection of playground equipment
  6. Precautionary measures
  7. Inspection and maintenance of equipment.
3. These guidelines shall come into effect from 1 July 2014.

4. Principals are kindly requested to bring the attached guidelines to the attention of members of staff and governing bodies.
