1. In terms of Regulation 2(2)(h) of the Regulations Relating to the Registration of and Subsidies to Independent Schools, the proprietor of an independent school must ensure that the average duration of a school day and the minimum number of school days per school year of that independent school conforms to the prescripts approved by the Head of Department.
2. All independent schools are reminded that, although the length of a particular school term may differ from that prescribed by the WCED, their school year must contain at least the minimum number of school days approved by the Head of Department. Conforming to this prescript is one of the conditions for registration as a private school.
