In preparation for and during the World Cup, it is important to plan office operations to ensure a balance between the department's service delivery requirements and affording all employees an opportunity to watch the soccer matches. |
2. |
In light of the afore-mentioned the following arrangements shall apply to all WCED employees during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and managers are requested to manage leave of absence/time-off accordingly:
- For Friday, 11 June 2010, pertaining to the opening ceremony only: An interested employee may put in three hours time-off [permission to leave work at 13h00 on this day]. The employee will agree to work this time in [three hours] during this week or next week. This arrangement must be negotiated with their supervisor. Again, the office operations must not be adversely affected.
- For all other world cup matches falling on weekdays: Employees are to utilize their normal leave credits should they wish to take a half day or full day to attend or watch world cup matches.
- In the event where an employee does not want to apply for leave, the normal working hours apply.
