1. The Inter-Provincial Examination Committee compiles the national examinations timetable after consultation with all education stakeholders and religious organisations. The 2009 timetable was endorsed by the Heads of Education Departments Committee and approved by the Council of Education Ministers.
2. The Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Speed Test (Optional), Computer Applications Technology Paper 1 (Practical) and Information Technology (IT) Paper 1 (Practical) will be administered on 7, 8 and 9 October respectively.
3. Learners who are not offering CAT and IT must attend school as normal on 7, 8 and 9 October 2009.
4. From 12 October to 23 October 2009, normal teaching and learning will continue so as to ensure as much teaching time as possible. No Grade 12 learner may be released for study purposes before 23 October 2009.
5. All practical subjects, non-official languages and subjects with small enrolments will be written between 26 and 30 October 2009.
6. The main examination subjects are scheduled to be written from 2 November 2009 to 3 December 2009.
7. Two examination sessions are scheduled for each day. The morning session will commence at 09:00 and the afternoon session will commence at 14:00.
8. Principals and centre managers must inform candidates that the National Senior Certificate supplementary examinations will be conducted in February-March 2010, and must not be confused with the May-June 2010 Senior Certificate Examinations.
9. Enclosed is a copy of the final timetable for the 2009 National Senior Certificate Examinations.
10. Principals and centre managers are requested to report all timetable clashes to the WCED. Such reports must be submitted in writing, before Friday, 16 May 2009, to the following address:

11. Principals and centre managers are required to inform all candidates that they must be available until the last day of the school term (11 December 2009), in case it should be necessary, for whatever reason, to reschedule the writing of a particular examination paper.
