1. It has come to the attention of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) that some schools are allowing political parties to place their advertisements on their billboards.
2. The WCED wishes to alert district offices and schools to the contents of Circular 0076/1998, "Advertising on School Property" (paragraph 3.3), which, although it does not refer specifically to the advertisements of political parties, can be used to guide schools in this regard.
3. No political posters/pamphlets should be placed on any part of the school building or against the fence of the school.
4. Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of the staff, school governing body and parents.
5. Your co-operation in the interest of education is appreciated.
