The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) makes use of a contracted courier (Contract RT 5-1-2006) to enable schools to return examination scripts and examination materials for the Senior Certificate, FET, GETC and ABET to the WCED. However, it has come to our attention that certain schools are using both the unused plastic bags, issued by the Directorate: Examinations, and the examinations courier service to send documents unrelated to examinations to the WCED.

All schools are hereby instructed to desist from this practice. Should it be found that a school is using these plastic bags to send non examinations-related documents to the WCED, or if a school adds non examinations-related documents to packages of examination scripts, then the full delivery cost (as per the weight of the package) will be for the account of that school. The courier service contractor will, in such instances, be instructed to recover the delivery cost from the school.
